THE SINGULARITY

People do not consider very often that the civilization they are part of may one day come to an end.  Decline, whether natural or artificially induced, translates into an increased absence of meaning and a gradual intensification of chaos, violence and disorder.  As decline accelerates, a civilization moves towards a singularity, which is determined by social, economic, and cultural factors.  Beyond that point society cannot continue to function in its original state, and it either implodes or it is radically transformed.

The twentieth century has shown that, in the absence of an absolute reference, words can justify any atrocity.  If there is no God, power becomes self-referential and absolute; it is now the new divine instrument required to reshape society at the hands of a self-proclaimed elite.  In the absence of a transcendent morality, people holding that power determine what is good and evil, then use that reference to marginalize or destroy anybody with a different worldview. The entire process is based on gradually tightening the restrictions to our freedom, according to the frog-in-a-pan principle. We can only fight for our freedom by reclaiming our faith.
